Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe Steam Mop 1806 Features and Specifications
Bissell 1806 features onboard, built-in water tank. Its capacity is 19 ounces (~0.56 liters), allowing the user to clean larger area without stopping for water refills.
Since the water tank is not detachable, Bissell 1806 comes with convenient filling flask that can be attached to the unit.
Bissell 1806 steam mop is rated at 12 Amps (1440 watts) and is powered via 25 feet (~7.6 m) long power cord, providing long cleaning reach without the need to change wall power sockets.
When plugged into the wall, it takes ~30 seconds for the water heater to reach required temperature. In order to start with the cleaning, user has to turn the steam ON and to set the required steam level, which can be Low or High:
- Low steam setting is intended for everyday steam cleaning and for steam cleaning delicate floors like sealed hardwood and similar.
- High steam setting is intended for cleaning stubborn and sticky messes and stains from floors that tolerate such cleaning.
When used properly, Bissell 1806 can clean and sanitize the floors - it can kill up to or even more than 99.9% of floor germs.
Note: When it arrives, Bissell 1806 must be assembled first, which can be done quickly. In order to familiarize yourself with the steam mop, be sure to read the manual thoroughly - Bissell 1806 is simple to use and maintain steam mop, but better safe than sorry ...
Bissell 1806 comes with so-called SpotBoost brush which helps the user to clean extra tough stains, floor crevices, even tile grout.
SpotBosot brush is exposed by detaching stem mop foot using foot pedal and be quite useful when cleaning pet messes, wine, coffe and juice stains and similar dirt.
Bissell 1806 weighs 5.7 pounds (~2.6 kg) with an empty tank and is very maneuverable thanks to the swivel mechanism connecting steam mop foot with the rest of the unit.
Cleaning width is 12 inches (~30.5 cm), allowing the user to relatively quickly cover large area - we say 'relatively quickly' since steam mops in general need several slow passes to thoroughly clean and sanitize one area. In any case, Bissell 1806 does that faster than the steam mops with narrower cleaning width.
Also, steam mop pads are designed to clean easily both corners and especially edges, leaving no surface uncleaned.
Bissell 1806 comes with two types of steam mop pads:
- soft microfiber pad, used for everyday cleaning and especially the cleaning of sensitive, sealed floors.
- scrubby microfiber pad, used for cleaning of tough stains, messes and various other stubborn dirt from tile, marble and similar, very resilient surfaces.
Steam mop pads are machine washable, just be sure not to use bleaches or anything similar and then air dried. On average, one steam mop pad lasts ~25 washes, after which it should be replaced with the new one.
To help with the cleaning, Bissell 1806 comes with two Spring Breeze Fragrance discs which are placed into the disc tray. Scent is not too strong, but nonetheless, some users put only half of the disc in the disc tray.
Tap Water or Not?
Bissell 1806 should not be used with ordinary tap water. Such water can leave deposits on the water heater and other internal components, shortening units operating life.
Also, tap water can leave dull residue and streaks on the cleaned floors.
Bissell 1806 should be filled with distilled or demineralized water - such water is more expensive than common water, but its advantages overcome the price difference.
Another option is to use Bissell's Demineralized Scented Water - this water leaves no residue on the water heater or cleaned floors and it leaves pleasant scent, increasing the feeling of freshness after cleaning.
Demineralized scented water costs even more than common demineralized water, but not much.
Carpet Glider for Bissell 1806
Bissell 1806 doesn't come with the carpet glider - it is intended for cleaning various bare floors.
However, if required, carpet glider can be ordered separately. Using carpet glider, Bissell 1806 can clean and refresh carpet surface, but it cannot clean the carpet deeply.
Note that delicate and sensitive carpets and area rugs should not be cleaned using steam mops with carpet gliders since hot steam can damage such surfaces.
